1. Modified Leaf of a Plant

This is a photo of an orchid plant. Orchid’s have these leaf like organs (which are actually just modified leaves) that are used to protect a bud, shoot, or flower. A modified leaf is a leaf that has evolved or adapted to preform a task other than photosynthesis. These modified leaves are called “bracts” and can be seen in this photograph branching off the stem.
